"I Don't Wanna Know" is a song by American R&B creative person Mario Winans featuring rapper P. Diddy and re-recorded background vocals past Enya. The song is based on a sample of the Fugees' song "Gear up or Non", and samples the synthesizer riff from Enya's vocal "Boadicea".[1] Released on February 17, 2004, the vocal reached number one in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands and number two in the United States, stuck for 8 sequent weeks behind the Usher singles "Yep!" and "Burn", respectively.[ii] The official remix features D-Block rapper Jae Hood, Enya, and P. Diddy. Another remix features Joe Budden, Enya, and P. Diddy.

Limerick and critical reception [edit]

The song is based on a sample of the Fugees' 1996 hit single "Gear up or Not", which itself was based on a slowed-down sample of the instrumental track "Boadicea" by Enya from her 1987 album, Enya. [3] Winans said: "I beginning heard 'Boadicea' at the stop of the movie Sleepwalkers nearly five or six years agone. It's something I ever wanted to produce. And then when The Fugees did it, oh my God, I loved it."[4]

Vibe wrote that "Winans adds a uncomplicated stuttering trounce that prevents the vocal from devolving into murky, saccharine Muzak. This is the hush-hush of Winan'southward magic; the soft impact of the synthesizers and his gentle piano playing blend with the signature audio of the kicking and snare – hard, unadorned, punching through the music's gauzy elegiac texture."[5]

Commercial performance [edit]

"I Don't Wanna Know" remains Winans' only major success to engagement. As a result of its 8 weeks at number ii, "I Don't Wanna Know" stands in joint fifth place for the virtually weeks at number two by a song which did not go to number i, backside Foreigner's "Waiting for a Girl Similar You", Missy Elliott's "Work It", Donna Lewis's "I Love You Always Forever" and Shania Twain'southward "You're Still the 1".
